We all know that heat pumps are energy efficient ways to heat and cool our homes, but respondents in a recent survey also acknowledge additional health benefits.

The Stats

Research company, Canstar Blue surveyed 856 people, 53% of whom said they had noticed improved health since installing the heat pump. The great stats continue with a similar number of people saying the heat pumps had reduced their power bill and a whopping 88% saying it had made their homes drier and easier to heat.

Results at a quick glance:

53%     Noticed improved health

89%     Purchased energy efficient models

50%     Noticed cheaper power bills

88%     Believe their homes were drier and easier to heat

31%     Used government subsidy to purchase their heat pump

Geography

In the survey which was conducted by Colmar Brunton Australia, for Canstar Blue, responses were also broken down into geographical regions. 71% of Auckland respondents indicated an increase in health benefits and again in Auckland 87% said the units had become a must have in any home they owned. Compare this to the 79% average and Auckland’s strongly seasonal weather and many minimally insulated homes may have something to do with it.

A healthy home

The importance of a healthy home environment as a contributing factor to the health and well-being of people all the world, is recognised and acknowledged by The World Health Organisation’s research which concludes, homes should be heated above 18 degrees to reach healthy levels of living.

Recognising the importance of warm, dry and healthy homes the government has in place the Warm Up New Zealand Healthy Homes government subsidy which offers free ceiling and under-floor insulation for low income house-holds and subsidies on heat pump purchase and installation.

When a dry and warm home is essential to your family’s health this is an offer that you should take advantage of and it’s a great testament to the need for a healthy home environment for every Kiwi.

For Mitsubishi Electric this is a great result and reinforces the level of trust consumers have for the company, its products and innovations.

Its reasons like this why we at Heat and Cool choose to supply and partner with Mistubishi as they are quite simply the best.
